Little help - KY River or Herrington?

Fellas, been busy lately and no time to fish. Finally got a morning to go and Im heading out with the bro on Sunday morning.

I've been out of it a while so I don't know what's goin on. I hate to waste the gas to go any further, as I don't know what's goin on and am liable to get skunked.

You guys know I bass fish.

Anyone fish Herrington or the River lately? are they still nesting and is it even worth goin right now?

Any help would really be appreciated I know I can count on a few good ole boys here to point me in the right direction.

We've fished the river the last 2 sundays and caught a lot of kentuckys,a few 2 to 3 lb. largemouths,a couple of nice smallmouthes and a mix of crappie,drum,and channel cats. Just about all on 1/8 oz. black and blue jigs and small spinner baits off the timber. The best thing was no cabin cruisers and no jet skis just other fishermen.

I highly recommend the river. I tried Herrington last week and the water is brown and fishing was very slow. Wednesday hit the river and had plenty of action on a small crankbait-spotted bass, smallmouth, white bass, and plenty of drum in the 4-6 pound range to keep things hopping. Water is much better quality on the river than Herrington right now and there will be probably 100 fewer boats on the river as well.

That's music to my ears guys. i love the river for all the reasons youve mentioned - sounds like the classic early summer river pattern. Just hope the rain today doesnt screw it all up for us.

You been in my neck of the woods or futher down/up? I usually fish Camp Nelson, Sulphur Well or High Bridge.

WE fished the Lawrenceburg pool out of the new ramp in Tyron. That's between lock 5 and 6.

I hit the nonesuch pool, just down stream one lock from Camp Nelson. Going again this week one day.

well we went to the Sulphur Well pool and went downstream and then back up. We caught several nice bass on the timber and rocks and it was a great trip. The fish seem bigger in the River this year than last.

The River fishes well when it stay's on the clear side, Glad you guys had fun i bet it was nice going up and down the river i always enjoy being out on it. Gl to us all :)

yea man it was beautiful. I just soaked up the sun and couldnt have been happier. Bro didnt do as well as I did, he may have a different feeling ;)
