Blue crabbing FT Walton area
My wife and kids want a chance to go crabbing, since she is cajun and we now live in KY you can imagine that crab is as good as gold for them. We do not have a ton of time and was thinking Florida rather than driving all the way back to west louisiana. Ft. Walton is the closest salt water to us, and we were wondering how the crabbing is in that area, we are not looking to do the tourist type trip, been there and done that we just want to catch a few fish and a whole lot of crab. Can any of you folks give us a heads up on the info.
Thanks Dennis
Re: Blue crabbing FT Walton area
Just got back from Destin, Ft, Walton beach area and the crab were thick. Lot's a crab being caught at night along the beach with a flashlight and dip net. You can also rent a pontoon and go out in the bay to crab island. you could probably take a chicken neck on trout line and catch them in the bay to. good luck, Chuck....
Re: Blue crabbing FT Walton area
Use can use chicken necks tied to a line as bait or you can get a LEGAL trap. Big traps are not good . Make sure you buy your trap from a trusted source a check on the regulations before you go.
