Has it gone bad or blown one of those stainless Steal ball bearing plugs that are put in the bottom part of the pump. If it has just blown a plug...I used a self tapping stainless Steal Screw and plugged the hole for a nice repair on an old Mercury Trim unit I owned previously.
not sure have not taken it apart all the way. did not know if there were parts that would fall off. i made sure it was topped off with fluid the other day. i can lift it up with the release valve. the pump wil allow it to come down about 4 inches while makin a horrible noise. now this is on a 2001 motor will that work and if so where should i look on the pump. i have taken the motor out works fine.
Mine had a plate on the bottom of the pump motor that came off that was about 1 inch thick. It had a gasket that you need to be sure and not damage when it comes apart. But the hole was located on the bottom 1 inch plate and I put the screw in and it sealed the hole where the ball bearing had been. refilled the pump with new fluid and it worked like a charm.
i will give it a shot. its killing me not to be able to use it.
thanks
