Pleasure Boats, Jet Skis, etc
I don't understand why so many people on this board are complaining about all of the Pleasure Boaters, the Jet Skis, the inconsiderate fishermen, etc and all the gripes about over crowed lakes. I went to Nolin today, put in at about 7 am and there was only one other tow vehicle in the parking lot when I got there. I fished several places on Nolin, including the main lake from Wax to Dog Creek and never saw even one Pleasure Boater or Jet Ski. I only saw four or five other boats/fishermen and none of them got even close to me. I don't understand all the complaints about people on crowed boat ramps either, even when I left about 2 pm there was only five tow vehicles in the parking lot and no one was trying to launch or load when I was leaveing, I had the ramp all to myself Everything was really quiet and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Man, retirement is really rough but someone has to do it, may as well me me!! :)

Re: Pleasure Boats, Jet Skis, etc
If you don't understand it, go Saturday Morning when the general public is out, and a few tourney's. Then let me know what you think. Not disrespecting you, but it's not the same comparrison.
Re: Pleasure Boats, Jet Skis, etc
Nothing like a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at Dale Hollow Lake in Mid December to put a cramp in the Pleasure Boaters as well Grumpy. Talking about having the lake to yourself and if it is sleeting, snowing, raining with a nice "Breeze" out of the North to boot, even less "Pleasure Boaters" and "Fishermen" for that matter. I was "Retired" for over a year last year, too bad I was too sick to enjoy it for most of that time, but I did enjoy this past spring for it was almost as if I was retired, just "healthy" enough to go fishing whenever I wanted. We all can retire when we want to for it only takes 2 things and we all have 1 of these 2, Time and Money. Time we have, money we don't.
Re: Pleasure Boats, Jet Skis, etc
Stratos, that is what is so tough about retirement, I HAVE TO FISH DURING THE WEEK--I CAN'T GO ON WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS ANYMORE. When I was a working stiff I had the pleasure of all those things on the weekends, but now I have to put up with fishing by myself and can't have all the fun that you do. :)
Enjoy,
Grumpy
Re: Pleasure Boats, Jet Skis, etc
This is exactly why I love my 2/2/3 schedule (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on one week, then 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off the next). Working 12-hr. shifts is rough, especially towards the end of a 3-day weekend, but it makes solitude on the River possible.
Re: Pleasure Boats, Jet Skis, etc
Welcome to retirement! But there are down sides, no special regardsfor long week ends, no reason to get up early, or stay up late. Starting my 15 year on that drudgery of not having anything important to do.And yes the lakes are not as crowses on tuesdays or the next couple of days, my yaerd work is now put off till saturday, and only when i really need a fix for my fishing jones, I wont fish week ends,
Re: Pleasure Boats, Jet Skis, etc
OK Grumpy quite bragging about being retired, some of us have a while to go to not have to put up with weekends on the lakes, I love to fish during the week as the fish have calmed down from all the traffic and it is lees crowded than the weekends, I ennvy the retired one,s. :D
