I'm falling apart
As y'all know, I quitired (quit my job and retired) in January. I then had to buy my own insurance with a high deductible. That's when I started falling apart.
At my yearly physical I told my doctor that I felt something was wrong in my abdomen. He ordered an MRI and we found out that I had two abdominal aortic aneurisms and a stenosis in my leg. That means I'm either going to blow out a vessel or plug up my leg with a clot. That was diagnosed in May.Nothing to do with that except watch and wait.
In June I go on a week fishing trip to Minnesota. I felt terrible the entire week. When I get home I get put into the hospital for my first time ever. My blood glucose level was 959. Yep. I'm now a Type I diabetic taking 4 insulin shots a day.
Here I work my entire life and take 3 sick days in 22 years. I quit smoking last year, quit drinking and quit work and NOW I fall apart. Oh well, life happens. At least I've got some health insurance, not great, but some.
I know it's not all that bad, I just wanted to vent with my fishin.com friends.

Re: I'm falling apart
I feel for you brother. I'm leaving in the morning to see my family in Florida because my Dad is in bad condition but getting better. He went his whole adult life without a hospital stay, stiches or broken bones and he is 75 years old. In the last 18 months he has has a knee replaced, shoulder surgery, diagnosed with Congestive Heart failure and found a mass in his chest (non cancerous). He just got out of the hospital Saturday after 2 weeks of tests and treatments. He is also a diabetic but not taking that many shots for it. I guess it happens to the best of us. Good luck!

Blood Gluose level 959 !!!!! I'd say you are real lucky to be alive and not have passed out while driving.

Re: I'm falling apart
Yep the golden years, when you transfer your gold to insurance bills doctor bills, and hospital bills. Its happening to a lot of us, I'm fortunate to still have some retirement insurance available, but soon the rising cost will of it will use up all my retirement benefits.

Re: I'm falling apart
It seems that each birthday that passes the more that goes wrong with my body, I am 46 I look younger but my insides are old. And whydoes everything that goes bad have to be in the behind, lol. I had diabetes test done last week thank goodness I do not have it yet and my heart and other things were fine but my gut and prostrate are not good. Just getting older, my back hurts my shoulder aches but I still keep on fishing even though it hurts sometimes. But I do still have all my hair and it is not gray yet.

You spelled the State exactly right!! Brought home some crappie and we caught tons of bass in the 3 pound range. Anyway, that's what I recall thru my glucose haze.

Re: I'm falling apart
Tyme,
After spending the last week with my Dad I now have a new respect for people who are Diabetic. Man, you have to really watch what you eat and drink. That's a tough deal man. Best of luck to you.

Re: I'm falling apart
It's only been 3 weeks for me for a life time problem. Yeh, it does seem that my life is planned around meals and shots but I'm doing pretty good and don't want to complain. I'm feeling great now that my blood sugar is under control. Didn't know how bad I felt till I started feeling better!!!
Thanks for the reply and your thoughts.
