Fished there a couple nights last week near Camp Earl Wallace. One night around 4 AM, they just turned on all of a sudden. No big ones, but caught about 10 LMs and three Sms before sunup. All were between 10 and 15" and all were caught on a 3/8 D&L Advantage jig and a NetBait Tiny Paca Craw, both black/blue. Good luck this weekend!
If you are going this weekend you are gonna be dodging more than rain drops, lol. The entire state of Ohio will be there this weekend in their wave tugs, including half the state of Kentucky and half of Indiana. Only 50% of then will be drunk though... BE CAREFUL out there, the 4th at the big C can almost be scary at times. If you must fish, very late night bite and real early morning, like hairball said jigs should get ya bit, and or plastics. It's getting close to the time when they should start hitting them big thumper spinnerbaits at night too, good luck if you go.
I'm hitting the Big C Thursday and Friday night. Great, but that leaves the days to deal with! 2 of the worst fishing-for-relaxation days you can imagine. My plan after the A.M. bite fizzles out is to begin trolling for the occasional wake-boarder, booze-cruiser, or jet-ski. I hear they put up a decent fight, esp. the Buckeyes, the worst invasive species in the lake. I also can't wait to deal with all of the yahoos at the ramp. The line to put in or take out will be fun, I'm sure. Quite possibly might take the boat and all of the gear down, only to end up fishing the heck out of the river- which I'm sure will be lined bank to bank with anglers looking to beat the lake mania. Oh well, even with a all of the negativity, I'm still so excited to go...
