Cumberland 7/10
Short trip today 10am to 1pm with my daughter. She informed me that for her 6th birthday she was "owed a fishing trip." We planned on targeting bluegill and bass. For the last 2 days it is all she has talked about. We picked up some meal and wax worms and headed out today after the morning rain stopped. She put it to me 8 to zero which really has her bragging around the house today. We had a really nice time on the water and it was very relaxing for me to aid her in catching fish. Hopefully another young person that may enjoy fishing as much as i do. Unfort did not get a chance at many bass as she was too busy jerking the lips off of the panfish. no big ones but plenty of action to keep her interested.
Conditions - slight algae stain - no run ins with water yet from the rain that i saw. temps in the 80-82 range. looks like a recent hatch of mayflies and the backs of the creeks and cuts are full of the floating insect carcasses. we pulled into the first fishing area and there must have been 50 panfish in a little cut swimming across the surface sucking them in. nearly every place i went had the same thing. i would imagine that the topwater bite early and late will be awesome for the next several days. the panfish were bloated from eating the little critters. meal worms taken better today and esp for the bigger panfish. good luck - off the water for prob another month. be safe.
