Hurricane Bob Not At Greenwood
In a rare display of discretion, I WILL NOT BE AT GREENWOOD TONIGHT.
a. Temps are high than yesterday, 98 degrees in Etown at 2 PM
b. Rain/thunderstorms this afternoon will add humidity and also raise the dewpoint
c. Add "A" to "B", with higer temps, more humidity and higher dewpoint, and you have the potential for storms stronger than what we saw last night.
d. Pontoon boats become kites in 65 MPH winds.
e. Hail hurts!
Not a weatherman, but if going tonight:
a. Take a weather radio or VHF with weather band. Alternative is a cell that links to teh web and watch the maps on teh weather pages.
b. Pay attention to your run time to safety, vs severity of storms and ETA into your area.
c. Be sure you have way too much fluids to drink along. High temps mixed with staggering humidity will remove from your body every beer you have consumed in the month. My body locks up when I get below 33% of beer capacity.
I'm gonna go back to bed now.......sorry I missed you all, and will try to catch you all up.
Re: Hurricane Bob Not At Greenwood
Its been switched to the new albany ramp just because of the weather.Ive been keeping an eye on the weather and unless something else starts to build we might be alright.Sorry to here you wont make this one.Maybe fridays one.If the rain and storms get to bad we can just go hit the nearest single mom outlet and have a cold one, lol.
Re: Hurricane Bob Not At Greenwood
Hey Hurricane, cant say I blame you, Im still going to go just might not launch the boat. I figure if the weather does not clear up and we can not fish safely we can meet everyone and have a couple of beers together so I will still be at the New Albany boat ramp tonight at 5:30-6:00. Cooler will have beer instead of bait. LOL Chris
Re: Hurricane Bob Not At Greenwood
Hey bob its 81 here with no rain in sight so far.
Re: Hurricane Bob Not At Greenwood
Okay, beat me up. At around 3:30pm here, the clouds started to part, and the temps started to ease up. Never fails, if I had gone, the pontoon would be surfing right now, and if I cancel, the weather clears.
Goods news, just maybe the reason the weather got good is becasue I did decide to cancel.
Maybe Friday guys. Hey, is the New Albany ramp open 24 X 7 or do they close the park up at night and leave ya stuck if you don't get out? If tehre are hours of operation, can somebody tell me what they are? Second question, last time I tried to ramp a 20 foot pontoon in at New Albany with teh water down in the fall, the ramp stopped and dropped off before I could get deep enought to ramp in. Darn near costed me an axle. Habe they done anything to improve the ramp? 20 pontoon on a triler with a 8 foot trailer tongue takes a lot of back down room? Ya all think with water at current levels I might be able to ramp there on Friday?
Re: Hurricane Bob Not At Greenwood
Ramp is open 24/7. No, there have not been any improvements made that I have seen. Monday morning the ramp was still half covered with dirt/debris. I have seen large boats launch with the low levels, but you have to stay on the "high side" of the ramp (side closest to the shore line). Unless all the high water has eroded another hole, your trailer will not drop off. However, you may not draw enough water to launch if you have a high trailer.
