taking out a cat

wats a good way to take a cat fish out of the water without hitting the stingers

I have pretty calussed hands and I just grab them by the lip like a bass. My girlfriend uses a glove and does the same. If it is a big fish, I will not use my thumb, butt, my fingers. This is hazardous because the bigger fish will tear up the top of your hand sometimes. Many people run there hand up the back of the fish (staring stright down at the fish), spreading the hand and placing fingers behind the spines with one or two left on the top to steady the head of the fish.

Bass pro shops has fish grippers that are made for taking out cats they are about $7.00 and seem to work very good

i would try a dip net if it was me.... that could get nasty quick with them catfish...

I also like the bass pro grippers, if you use a net the fins get tangled up in the net and take forever to get out.

Slide your hand under and put your fingers in its gills. Will not stab you and doesn't seem to bother the fish. Thats how they do it on tv :D

I use my hand around the back of the neck.And also they got the new net out that is rubber and it dont get tangled up in it.

That's what I do up to 4 or 5 pounds. Over that and I go with the gills.

I just grab them by the bottom lip or around the back depending on the size.
If you do get stuck, rub some of the slime on the puncture ad it will stop hurting a lot quicker.
