Carolina Rigging on C-Land "Help"
I read the post about Carolina rigging on here a few days ago and it was very helpful, I learned a lot!! My son and I are going to try c-rig fishing tomorrow morning, for the first time. We are going to put in at conley bottom, should we use the c-rig on the main lake or in a cove? We are kind of new to fishing, we started fishing last September and we are getting skunked on summer bass fishing. Now here comes a question you guys might get a laugh out of. What are points and secondary points and flats? Thanks in advances for any help…

Re: Carolina Rigging on C-Land "Help"
I was told and told about how to catch summer fish, and even lucked into a few myself, but was never that good at it. Until this year, I went out with a guide (Dave Stewart here on Ky lake - but I am sure there are great guides on Cumberland), and it has made all the difference in the world. I only wish i would have done it earlier, but I will definitely do it again. I knew I had to find ledges, and thought I knew what a good ledge looked like. Dave took out the guessing game for me. A good guide will teach you what to look for and how to approach it, and you and your son can reproduce that time and time again. I used to think, I know how to fish, or I can figure it out, or the paying for a guide is just for tourist. I could not have been more wrong. The price of a quality guide is the best bargain you will find in fishing, and far more valuable than any equipment. I will be taking at least one or two trips a year from now on.

I have never had luck using a C rig on Cland. I have best luck throwing either shakey heads and jigs and deep running cranks and top water early am/late afternoon. C land around Conley has some decent points now that the water is down, but my best catches come from fishing the bluffs parallel untuil you fins the depth they are at. The banks sorta stair step there, so just experemint and find the right depths. Good luck. Any more info you need pm me.Good Luck
