The meaning of "Service"

I became confused when I heard these terms, each of which included the word, service':

1. Internal Revenue 'Service'

2. Postal 'Service'

3. Telephone 'Service'

4. T.V. 'Service'

5. Civil 'Service'

6. City & County Public 'Service'

7. Customer 'Service'

8. 'Service' Stations

9. Department of Social 'services'

This is not what I thought 'service' meant. But today, I overheard two farmers talking, and one of them said he had hired a bull to 'service' a few cows. BAM! It all came into perspective. I now understand what all those 'service' agencies are doing to us.

Ha ha I see what you mean. That clears up another problem I had years ago when I hired a lawyer during my dicorce for his legal "services".

I thought they were tears of joy when I would say I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
