Fished Friday morning pulling boards with jigs. Manged 2 hits but no fish. We put in at conley bottom and trolled along the steep banks. Never did graph any good schools but when we started to leave I picked up some big balls of bait out in the middle. I think if we had stayed off the bank and trolled the middle we might have had better luck.
We really did well this past week pulling dollflys w/ downriggers. The fish are holding between 30 - 70 ft deep on channel breaks and at the mouths of creeks. Not many fish left in the Conley Bottom area, you need to go at least down to Thomas Branch and below to find good numbers of fish.
The striper bite has been good early in the morning till between 9:30-10:00am. After that the bites get tough. Try downriggers with dollflies or umbrella rigs fished 35' to 50' down after the live bait bite dies out in the morning.
So much for the hot bite. This morning was really tough. Got 5 short fish and no keepers. Didn't talk to anybody that had much luck. Go figure. Maybe tomorrow.
What a difference a day makes. Got 5 keepers today, broke off 2 others, and caught 6 short fish. Fished the same area where I couldn't buy one yesterday. I'll never figure them out.
thanks for the info... had to much going on to fish this week but will try and hit the water saturday
