This lake is hammered. You will have to finesse fish. Small jigs, small cb, shakeyhead worm. Shad color/firetiger cb, greenpumkin worms, blackblue jigs.
Bassky
I agree, this lake gets a lot of pressure. It kind of fishes like 2 lakes really. The lower end is deep, rocky, and the water is usually a little clearer. The upper end is a lot shallower with a lot of wood cover and the water is generally more stained. I haven't been out for the past couple of weeks, but the last time I was there they were schooling on shad pretty hard on the lower end. FYI... Not only does this lake get pressure from weekend tourneys, but there is also a Tuesday nighter that draws 40-50 boats a week. It gets hammered to say the least.
Yes I agree with all the previous posts. I got one keeper on a Gizz 3 deep diver crankbait the last time I was there. I was no where near the bank if that tells you anything. I've been told by those that are in the know, that there are good fish in this lake. It's not just fishing pressure, there is the onslaught of pleasure boaters that will just wear you out.
Thanks everyone i think the plesure boats will be down by then sounds alot like taylorsville lake.thanks again,Terry Adolph:cool:
2 words for ya....BUZZ BAIT!!!!!!!! Oh yea and a .....BUZZ BAIT!! ALL DAY LONG! No matter how much Pressure its getting!
Thanks, love a buzz bait bite.I will have 3 or 4 days too find fish.Hope too win that boat up there so i can trade in it and my Triton for a new procraft.Terry Adolph:cool:
Just wanted too bring this back up too see if anyone has any more help and too thank everone who has. Will leave from home early tuesday so i get too BP in Ohio when they open too buy a lic. then hit the lake. Thanks everyone.Terry Adolph:cool:
sounds as if the bite is really tough up there right now, I think last weekend it only took 7 lbs to win a 40 boat tourney or so. That lake is probably nearing turnover and therefore fishing will be tough at best. Good luck.
I used to live there about 10 miles from the lake for almost 20 years. I know the lake pretty well. Lots of standing timbers especially in upper end. The water tend to be from stained to murky. As for a lure, I'm not a fan of Berkley baits but, I've had lot of success there with power bait in motor oil color weightless retrieved slow in wood covers. Good luck.
I was out on East Fork yesterday. Water temp was 72, upper lake is slightly stained, and the lower lake has 5-6 foot visibility. It's real tough out there right now. They were having a DMT yesterday and a lot of the guys said they struggled. Lots of 2 and 3 fish bags. I didnt hang around to see what won it. Last weekend they had the end of year tourney for the Tuesday Nighters. It was 2 days and took 7lbs. a day to win. My partner and I did figure out a little something and caught 5 or 6 yesterday, but he is also fishing USA Bassin, so I can't give you any more info than that.
Thanks everyone i'll let you know how i did.I'm leaving asap now too prefish for sundays tournament. Thanks again Terry Adolph:cool:
