9yr Old First Deer Youth Hunt 2008
Took my Son out this weekend and he bagged his first doe. This was a special moment for the both of us. This was the first time I had been hunting in around 5 or 6 years due to losing interest and not having time. The little guy has been begin me for the last year to take him out, so we did. Set up on an old login road that came together like a funnel with two other login roads. We got set up around 7am and we had 4 does come down over the ridge about 8:15am. He got set up and put the cross hair on the shoulder and dropped her in her tracks. Couldn't be more proud, great shot and quick kill. Plus the advantage of not having to track her over mountain goat country. Here's a couple of pics.

Great feeling ain't it? Congrats to you and your son,I've been through it with my two oldest boys before, but have a big gap between them and my 8 year old (like 16 and 10 years) .My little one didn't get a decent shot at anything this weekend, but I'm sure he'll get one by gun season. Some locals ran their coon dogs across my place the Friday before the youth hunt and really screwed the deer pattern up for us,we saw 3 does Sunday morning ,but they were too long a shot for my son to attempt,so he passed.
