I have in the past couple of months been a captive of television, while spending 18 hours a day in a hospital bed. It is time that we look at the title of my thread (U.S.) We have got to learn that we are the us in that title. One man can not change a world at least not right now, and then it will be Christ. If Obama had a more normal sounding name for us to refer to him I feel half of the fight he had to win would not have had to be fought. I spent my working years on a farm and in the army and as a construction worker and carpenter. I come from a southern family so I had to change alot of ideas when I left home. Judge each man on his own terms, not by what color, or colors flows through his blood because I promise you if they are cut they bleed red. Every group, race, and religion has it share of fools who think a loud noise is better than the truth. George W Bush was used by so many folks it is unreal. He trusted to well, to soon. And if we as a nation are to move forward it will have to be on the basis of WW2 lets get this thing fixed and forget the petty stupid things that so easily divide us. Obama can not do this in four years but he along with the rest of (US) can lay down a foundation to work on. Our world changed this past week let pray it is for the better.

Well said Poppy. We all need to work as a nation to change things. Guys some of you are so racist is is sad, so many remarks and false accusations and disrespect for our new leader. Why are some of you so scared? He wont take away guns, he wont go jerking babies from the womb, some of the stuff some of you are posting is unreal and very RACIST. This is the 21st century it is time to put aside race differences and not look at color but look at the man inside. Some of you love Bush so much they it might be best if you move to Texas and succed from the union and then you can have BUSH back. Enough said I will say no more, I ahve said my peice and now it is time to deer hunt and winter fish. The election os OVER, AMERICA made it's choice. Some will have to live with it just as we have had to live with Bush the LAST 8 years, and seen our country go down hill due to his policys and his WAR. Bush the greatest far from it, his legacy is how he ruined the country due to selifish greed.

Bobby this is hard when it's being shoved down my throat that Obama is the first "BLACK" president, all the media rederick about race down to every single coverage pointing out the differences between white votes and black votes, it's not fair. Bush in his faults did appoint 2 "blacks" Col Powell, Condalisa Rice (spelling?) to take offices for the first time in our countries history for African Americans, he hasn't recieved any praise for opening those doors.

To quote "You take the good, you take the bad, you take 'em both and there you have the facts of life", over all this I have learned to be more open about good things people do as well as the bad and vice versa. Where Bush failed here he gained there and Obama will do the same I just hope he lives up to the hype because it will be great, but you cannot fault those who come before you for your sucess it is a different time now than even 5 yrs ago. JMO

Nicely said Bug, I liked it.

Obama has the opportunity to erase the pejudice that blacks have against whites. That is the sum of the problem in this country. If he doesn't, he will send this country back to earlier years. The problem is that hate has been propagated amongst blacks against whites for so many years by people like Reverend Wright and black panthers that it is instilled in them. Obama has a tough row to hoe to rid this hate of white people in blacks.

Every President up until now has been white and there are still white people that hate black people but Obama is supposed to fix all the black hate against whites. <shakes head in disbelief>

You cannot deny that reverse descrimination and Affirmative action have SET this country back QUITE a bit.

Affirmative action is intellectual welfare........when you have to score less, produce less, WORK LESS, than some who is white and better qualified, it does nothing but keep you down.

I don't deny that Affirmative action has helped a TON of people, but in today's world, it is used as A CRUTCH......

AMERICA has always been about the BEST and the BRIGHTEST......when you settle for less..........well......you get less.

How is your reply relevant to what I posted? I'll tell you, it's not. Just another shot taken at the black race posted on here.

I just replied that it was funny to think that Obama being elected President was going to end what you call reverse descrimination but every President up until now has been white and there is still descrimination against blacks.

The black race has always voted the Democratic ticket incase you didn't know, just so happens Obama is black and pulled in the first time black voters also. Did they vote for him just because he's black, most likley, do I approve of that, of course not but there were plenty of votes cast against him because he was black. We'll never know the true numbers breakbown but in your world I guess you have it figures out.

But anyway back to the point I originally tried to make. It's absoutley absurd to think Obama can make all the black race embrace the white race when there have been numerous white presidents before him and there is still racism against blacks. Get the point now!

AND why is that........do you think this has NOTHING to do with the government handouts they GET, and the INFINITELY more scholarship and affirmative action programs that are DIRECTED towards them.......GIVE ME A BREAK. I'd sure LOVE to have some of those programs DIRECTED at ME.

THE Point is taken...........BUT just as you point out........ALL the WHITE presidents passed legislation DRAMATICALLY effecting the black race for the positive..........

Obama cannot possibly make all STUPID black people and STUPID white people give up their racist ways.......YES, I said STUPID, because THEY ARE. In fact, I'd love to LOCK up every racist SOB out there, but I'd be locking up MOST of my family.........and YOURS....and Obama's WIFE.
