Where is the meat?
A number of times I have found either the antlers or the head and antlers missing from a down deer during hunting season. Nothing makes me for furious. Have you seen the cover of Bass Pro's RedHead Catalog this Fall with the hunter supporting a huge rack across his back...where is the meat? This is not a good photograph for young hunters to see. Also, why can't we leave the big bucks for future gene pools and eat the younger does.

Re: Where is the meat?
i agree that its not a good message and the answer to the big buck qustion is simple , too many trophy hunters. i used to be one unfortanetly. i dont hunt any more due to land issues but i had freinds that hunted on our farm and after the kill they didnt want the meat they just wanted the rack on the wall. we burned a lot of bridges with people about that issue and it got old very quick." if you dont eat it dont kill it "is what we would tell them. now the only people that hunt our farm is family. freinds seem to take advantage of the situation.

Re: Where is the meat?
Too bad they don't get caught, and take there license away for life. I love a good trophy as much as the next guy hince my name. I can't imagine killing any wild animal unless I was planning on eating it. Just had some tenderloin tonight from one of my does mm mmm good.

Re: Where is the meat?
If all you want is the rack on the wall, then donate the meat to "Hunters for the Hungry". I seen a poster in the store I stop at in the mornings talking about this. There are processors out there that you can take the deer to for this. It don't cost you anything other than a tag, which you use anyway when you shoot the deer. Then the meat doesn't go to waste & gets used for a good cause.

Re: Where is the meat?
Thanks for reminding everyone. This is a great way to help out, especially the way the economy is right now.
