Re: Smallmouth Guru @ BPS
Not sure if this has been posted, but Stephen Headricks the Smallmouth Guru from Punisher lures will be at Bass Pro Shop in Clarksville this weekend talking about the FNF and other smallmouth tips. The plan is for him to be able to talk to you one on one about any questions you have.
I have known Steve Headrick for going on 4 years now and we have become really good buddies. I will tell everyone that reads this, you won't find a more personable man that loves Smallmouth fishing and Dale Hollow on the face of this earth and that includes me, which is saying a lot. Steve fished with the late great Billy Westmoreland the last 10-12 years of Billy's life on a daily basis and knows more about Smallmouth and Dale Hollow than any man alive along with Cobby Hayes currently. Steve will answer any question that you ask, he will stay around as long as it takes to get all questions answered and tells it like it is. He does not hide any secrets (except for those honey holes and even then he has taken me to several of his favorites plus several of Billy's favorites as well). Anyone that is wanting more information on Smallmouth Bass would learn a great deal by meeting him at the Bass Pro this weekend. I did not know about this or I would have went Saturday myself but already made fishing plans for Saturday, church Sunday morning and church dinner Sunday night or I would go myself. Tell him Elwood sent you.
Re: Smallmouth Guru @ BPS
Thanks for the heads up on this...hopefully since this is taking place in late fall it won't be as crowded as some of the spring events that BPS puts on.
What times, which days, do you know?
Re: Smallmouth Guru @ BPS
I know he impressed the heck out of me the first time me and a buddy stopped in at the One Stop in Celina for some gear. I told him it was our first time down there for Float-N-Fly and he pointed over to the little tables at the front of the store and said, "Yall hang out a minute. Let me finish ringing up these customers." He got finished, then came over and sat down, asked to see our map. He pointed out some areas that had been productive and gave us some real good tips on how to fish them. We went out, newbies, and caught fish...had my two biggest smallies to date on that trip, one a 22-3/4" pig beast. He's a class act in my book!
Re: Smallmouth Guru @ BPS
I was there today and they didn't give me times. It is not being advertised either only word of mouth. I would call to see specific times closer to the weekend.

I will call him tomorrow morning sometime and try to get some information and post what I can find out. I have talked to him 3-4 times over the past week and he never mentioned a word of coming up here. I know he will be opening up his store personally Friday morning at 5am and said he was manning the store until the afternoon Friday. Either he will come up Friday night after or Saturday morning. I will see what I can find out before we leave for Dale tomorrow

Steve Headrick called me and said he would be at the Bass Pro in Clarksville on Saturday from 10-5 even until 6 if needed, then back on Sunday from 10-1. He is looking forward to meeting all that attend and rest assured he will answer any questions you have and will help as much as possible. Hope you all have a good time.
