Opinions on Piney Campgound LBL
Hey fellas,
Myself and a couple of guys from work are planning a Spring trip to Ky Lake. We normally stay at Wranglers Campground, but due to some grumblings from other people in our party, we've entertained the idea of maybe trying a different place this time around. Here's some of the things we liked about Wrangler's and some of the things we didn't like about Wranglers:
Pros:
- Proximity to both KY and Barkley
- Plenty of room for 4 boats /w trailers
- Electricity
- Ability to have a campfire
Cons:
- If the weather is wet, the place is a mess.... ugghggg..
- The smell.. not so great.. I guess you really need to be a Wrangler to handle it.. hahah
- Shady glares from all the horseback riders when we pull our armada of boats through the campground at 5:00 a.m.
Someone suggested Piney.....

We normally stay in the cabins at Wrangler's. They don't have running water or heat or A/C, but for that time of the year, it's not a big deal.
Thanks for the input!!!

Yeah I think AL called Piney today. They only have the small cabins. Looks like Wranglers is back on. Tell him to quit whining about a little horse manure.:)

Hey, as long as the coffee grinder still works, we should be gtg.. Hahaha
Re: Opinions on Piney Campgound LBL
Do you all have a camper, or are you wanting to stay in cabins? I would try staying at Energy lake campground if you have a camper. Energy lake is a great lake to fish if they aren't biting on KY or Barkley.
Re: Opinions on Piney Campgound LBL
Unfortunately, we don't have a camper... Oh well....
Re: Opinions on Piney Campgound LBL
Have you looked into Moor's Resort? Nice setup on the west bank of the Kentucky. They're a sponsor to Fishin.com and you have a link to their site on the home page. I've stayed there a few times. Real nice.

Gary,
You might consider camping at the Early American.
Cons - $50 a night
- you can't make a fire in your room
- you might have to share a bed with someone
- you need to book about two weeks in advance
Pros - great access to Ken Lake Ramp/Fenton (KY lake) or a short drive to S Barkley
- heat/ac, showers, coffee, frig, two double beds
Depending on your boat and wind speeds, you might have to trailer to the creeks you want to fish anyway. If you are fishing on one of the moons, I'll probably be down there. Hope you guys catch a bunch!

Dizzle, camped once and will never do that again. After a long day on the lake i like a shower and a bed. I've stayed at ken oak and sportsman's and they both serve the purpose. If it rains no matter what u can't keep a tent dry! Plus it's almost cheaper to stay at a resort then camp these days....later pal

Thanks for the input fellas...!! I remember seeing the Early American the last time we were there. I'll have to run that by the rest of the crew and see what they think. For the most part, we are on the water the majority of the day, so it's all good regardless.
