Hey all, I am new to the board. Any advice for a newbie going after eyes sauger below Wolf Creek? I have heard the walleye fishing can be good and that there are a few sauger there. Figure I'll catch a few trout in the process too.

I'm no expert on the eyes and sauger in the C-River, but I have caught several very nice eyes down there. We fished for them at night with large jerkbaits. Make sure that they are floating jerks to keep from snagging. As for the trout, that I'm an expert at. You can't beat fly fishing with any nymph battern. As for spinning, practically any trout bait or lure will work. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I have only fished below Wolf Creek a couple times. One was trout derby weekend (took my nephews) and of course that was a complete circus down there. I did manage to catch a huge bluegill though. The other time was at Helms and the water was really rolling so the fishing was pretty hard.
right now you catch about 30 trout to 1 walleye

That is a nice trout! Can you have luck down there from shore, I don't have a boat. I'll wade if I have to, but would rather not if I can avoid it.
yes and no. right now the water is so high you need to be in a boat, but during the summer you can wade while the water is off.
i'm thinking about going sunday if interested email me a number..
I'll actually be out of town for a week or so, thanks for the offer though. Maybe later this month or next. I figured the water would be really going with all the rain we have been having. Been fishing a little in the Barren Lake tailwaters. Nothing big hitting, but enough action to make it interesting. Wish there were some sauger or eyes in there as it is close, but I have never caught one or seen one caught there.
