West Boggs

Does anyone know what is going on at West Boggs?? I thought their 5 yr plan included drawing down the lake each yr to try to control the shad. This yr no drawdown has occurred. Has the long term plan changed?? If so can anyone comment on what the future plan for the lake is??

You are correct that no drawdown took place this winter. The study for Gizzard Shad control has completed that phase of the process. It will still be some time before the data is all assembled from all the lakes in the study, and then maybe some conclusions will be available. In the meanwhile, it is lookin glike ice fishing might be an opportunity for the first time in several years. I won't ever be declaring the ice to be "safe" but people are welcome to make their own judgements. Just be careful. If you fall in I ain't coming to get you out until spring. ;-)

Hey guys and gals. For anyone interested, the lake level is at full pool, and the ice is out. You might want to start thinking about visiting while there is still no one collecting money. As long as the gate house in unmanned entrance and boating are all free.
