Whacked em on DH
Went to DH 1/17 - 1/19 to try this float and fly thing out. Saturday was brutal. Cold and wind and very few fish. Actually probably more fish than we knew were there since we had no clue what we were doing. Sunday we put it together. 12 to 14 foot leaders with Punisher Duck Feather Jigs and steep bluff walls. Caught some pretty nice fish see pics attached. Also lost a very large 8+ ??? this morning. I am still replaying that one in my mind.
I did learn a couple of good things will at DH.
1. If you are going to float and fly get a longer handle net or a taller partner to fish with.
2. Eat at GT's sports Bar and Grill. Man can that guy cook.
Great lake and community. We will be back down alot.

Re: Whacked em on DH
Sounds like a great trip. I know very little about the FNF method other than the video that is posted on the main page. I fish DH usually March through April. Do you use a longer spinning rod that is recommended for the FNF or can you get away with shorter (my longest spinning rod is 7')?
Thanks

Nice fish. We threw the fly alittle on Sunday and didn't have any luck. Didn't try any bluffs though.

It can be done with a 7' , but if you are just starting, I would recommend the longer rod, 9'6" or 10'. the longer rod makes it sooooo much easier.

Re: Whacked em on DH
Those are some nice fish. Cool pics when it was snowing too. I would love to see someone pull an 8+ out of there...especially on a 10 ft rod. Whereabouts is GT's SportsBar located, Celina?

Oh you can't eat the big burger with out getting sick. I usually get the jr and it's like 1/2 lb or something.
Location is tough to describe...map it. http://www.gtssportsbarandgrill.com/
