C-land flf question
This is my first flf trip. I just wanted to know what to look for. I dont need specific spots. Just wanted to know like what to fish: Main lake points, secondary points, 45 degree banks. I have heard many different types of banks to fish. I wanted to see if anyone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Re: C-land flf question
This is going to sound un-helpful, but it's really not.
I've been to C-Land fishing FnF about a dozen times this winter and last and I absolutely have not found any pattern as to what to look for.
For example, last weekend we caught 3. The first was on a very windblown point/transition area fairly close to the mouth of a large creek right next to a bluff wall. The next two were in a calm, sheltered cove/cut-in with a 45 degree bank of basically gravel.
That's been my experience almost everytime I go where I catch them in polar opposite types of spots.
If anything lately, I've been trying to fish more of the 45 degree banks with the small gravel-type rocks and the presence of stumps.
I haven't caught any on the main lake, but I haven't fished the main lake much either.
I don't have much more to offer than that.

Re: C-land flf question
I don't fish Cumberland at all with the fly for you can't drag me away from Dale but if I did right now with as cold as the water is, I would be on the main lake throwing it up against the most straight up and down walls as I could find. Usually later in the winter when the water temps get in the lower 40's this is where you will find the fish stacked and with the extreme cold winter we have had so far the water temps are there now. Learned a valuable lesson last weekend at Dale to focus on the water temps to find the fish and not the date on the calendar. Hope this helps, elnut

Re: C-land flf question
know1 and I tried the main lake and it produced one drum....not to mention the waves get pretty hairy out there with the least bit of wind....we didn't catch our fish until we hit the middle to the backs of the creeks...why fish are back there i have no eye dear but thats where they appear to be....good luck to ya

Re: C-land flf question
I'll be down there Saturday and Sunday. If you see a black and white 21 foot Triton with a 225 Merc and three really ugly dudes in it, stop and say hi and we'll help you out if we can. Look for the clearest water you can find - it's crucial for success with the Float 'n Fly.
