Re: Some of the storm mess
That's bad for sure. We had a small area that looked close to that just because of the amount of 25 year old trees around the houses in my neighorhood. Thank God it's over.
Re: Some of the storm mess
Hang in there Col I'm glad it wasn't to awful bad. Here in Oldham County and the surrounding Louisville area most place looks like your pics or MUCH worse.
Here are a few pics from the our front yard. The backyard is even a bigger mess, so much that you can't really make out much in the pics other than just trees everywhere. With the amount of trees we had, and the amount down we are lucky that only a few hit the house in the front side and back - and they didn't do any major structural damage other than ripping gutters, tore off a corner from some roof overhangs, and holes in the siding all around - but it is liveable. I am waiting on the insurance rep. to get here sometime this week, before I do any major chainsawing.
That was a close call. I'm glad your houses wasn't damaged worse. I know it's totally a different type of weather disaster but people in that area will probably have to deal with hidden tree damage for a couple of years or longer.
Hurricane Katrina damage a lot of trees on my property in South AL; everything was cleaned up spotless with all stumps removed. Now I have three 100-year old oaks and five poplar trees that had hidden damage, and have to come down. The wind twisted and bent the trunk of the trees doing inside damage which didn't show until last summer. Now the bark is turning loose and falling off and limbs are falling out of the trees. I'm afraid it's going to cost me some serious money for the cleanup.
Re: Some of the storm mess
Did you guys get out when the ice was falling off the trees? That was a sight to see. I stood under the front porch and watched....I'm easily amused.:D
