Storm damage
I know that this isn't fishing, but I recieved storm damage back in the fall. I am getting it taken care of. I have a 1 1/2 story cape cod and a 2 stall detatched garage. HKC has started it this morning. Have around 12 mexicans (not to sound racist) on my roof. How long do you all think it will take for a tear off and reroof with a ridge vent on the house, and a reroof on the garage? I give it 10 hours. They started at 8:30 on the dot. What do y'all think? Man, it's masters at work.

With that many guys that actually know what they are doing up there, I give it less than 8 hours. Progress update?

Re: Storm damage
Well 12 turned into six. it took them 10.5 hrs. The tear off took six guys an hour. They had to replace quit a bit of wood that was split. That got a little expensive. They did a killer job, though. I'm gonna get the garage done on a later date. If anyone needs a roof done, call HKC. Great warrenties on the Owens Corning shingels. They are out of Louisville.
By the way, my dogs don't like strangers much less Mexicans. My male seen one pudgey one and wanted to make a ham bone out of him. Great dogs. Just do not like strangers when I'm not around.

I've gained a lot of respect for these hard working folks trying to earn an honest buck and actually live the American Dream. Hard days work for a fair wage. Had two Hispanic folks do some carpet work in my home last fall, from Home Depot. They were courteous, knocked out 3 bedrooms, a hall, a walk-in closet, and set of stairs. Arrived 5 minutes before the scheduled time, moved all the furniture carefully, and without a grumble, and set it all back in place, and still were done with the whole job inside of 6 hours. They took not one break the whole time, just kept their noses to the grind stone and "got er' done".
By comparison, I have had "good ole americans" do a generator wiring job, that three companies bid at an estimated 4 hours, in just under 10 hours, with breaks every hour, long lunch, and that failed city inspection twice before the work was done to anyhting like a professional standard.
Above and beyond race, color, or creed, I'll respect craftsmanship, hard work, professionalism, and diligence. And I agree, ya can't tell sometimes before the work gets done.

Re: Storm damage
Iagree. The men that reroofed my house were respectful and very good. I'm very happy with the work they did. Race, color, and all that stuff is overrated. if a person can do the job and do it well, they are good in my book. I strongly agree with you Bob.
