Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
Yesterday, I sent an e-mail to KY Dept of Fish and Wildlife requesting a booklet and received an email just now saying that it was in the mail. That is fantastic service--to get something FREE and a response in one day. Makes me happy to buy my liscense.
Then to top that off, at the bottom of the e-mail was follwong:
"Did you know...Kentucky has more bald eagles now than at any time in history?"
That is also fantastic news.

Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
I didn't know that. However, I did see two at Rough and one at Nolin last year.
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
That is awesome news!!! There used to be, and maybe still is, a large area on Cave Run that was bouyed and off limits becasue of a pair of bald eagles nesting there.
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
The Bouys on Cave have been removed but I see Bald Eagles almost everytime I go to Cave Run there is a very large population there.
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
ive also seen two eagles at rough river usually around the laurel (spl) branch area .....
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
I was lucky enough to see one at Taylorsville Lake this past November. He was in the Beech creek area.
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
That's good for the eagles, butt, if there are too many eagles, something will suffer sooner or later.
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
Its good to see these birds when I'm out on the water. You may not see many, but when you do, what a great site.
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
Saw one at the Cumberland River last year, was by far the largest bird I have seen flying over my head. Was a cool sight to see as I had never seen one in the wild. Good to hear I may have a good chance to see one again.
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
every time i have been on the water this fall and winter i have seen a bald eagle.... i seen several like 5 or 6 about state dock on dale flying around and goofin off like they do... this just goes to show the true testament of work that our states wildlife authorities is coming back as a great investment....
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
I have seen one at Cedar creek and i have also seen a golden eagle as well----:)
Re: Bald Eagles And Fantastic Service
Another great place to see them is on the Indiana side of the Ohio River, along the stretch from the PSI plant, south for 2 to 3 miles. Always see them in that area as I pass thru.
Coolest bird thing I ever saw was last year at Cumberland, half way to the dam from Jamestown. A redtailed hawk was flying low and slow with a fish clinched in its talons. A Bald Eagle was circling high above the area, looked down, tucked its wings to dive mode, hit the hawk in the back with one claw, and reached around and took thefish with the other claw. It then reved up and started to climb fast with a really stunned yet aggrivated hawk dead on its tail in hot pursuit mode. They flew down the lake's shore line and disappeared over the trees.
