Best small boat waters or ramps
I'm just getting back into fishing after about a 15 yr layoff. In that time I've moved a few counties away from home. Now here in Taylor county its like starting all over again.
Used to only bank and wade small creeks.
Always loved Peabody, but its just a little far now. The kids would be bouncing of the interior:D.
I have a small, Bass Tender 11, two man boat. only using a trolling motor for propulsion.
Where are good ramps and or small lakes for "anything that bites" type fishing.
On Green, looks like Snake Creek is a good one. Also like Fagan Branch.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Tommy.
Re: Best small boat waters or ramps
c-ville city lake and spurlington lake are both good.if you want to take the kids for crappie or bluegill the city lake is full of them.fagen branch isn't to bad but old calvary is better.if the wind gets up on fagen it can be bad with just a trolling motor and one battery.the wind always blows you away from the ramp.good luck, red

Here's a list of goodies. I call them goodies because:

c. Fishing is with in trolling motor distance.
d. Disclaimer: These are one's I like, not intended to be all the good ones, but just the one's I know/use.
Nolin Lake:
a. Wax Rec Area.
b. Moutadier Rec Area.
Taylorsville Lake: Settlers Trace
Barren River Lake:
a. Settler's Trace
b. Bailey's Point
c. State Park
d. The Penisula
Green River Lake:
a. Green River Marina
b. Emerald Isle Marina
c. Holmes Bend

We have done pretty good there in the Spring and Summer for Bass. The Catfishing is pretty good there as well.

casey creek on green @ arnolds landing. enough stumps, stake beds and brush to run a battery completely dead there.
Re: Best small boat waters or ramps
There's a couple areas around Lebenon. If the gravel bar isn't too tore up, and the water isn't too low or high, you can drop a small boat in behind the cemetary at Calvery on the Rolling Fork River. Need a 4x4 to do it though. Have caught plenty of nice smallies, biggies, ky's, crappies, and cats on the Rolling Fork. One of my favorite places to fish and camp and not get bothered. Warning- run the river nice and easy. Plenty of shallow areas and underwater logs to tear smalll motors up. Love floating the river!
Spurlington Lake, Sportsmans Lake, and Fagenbranch Lake. All electric motor lakes. Fished all three and have done pretty good on Fagenbranch. All three have good ramps.
Re: Best small boat waters or ramps
There are several small lakes around that area that are used as water supply for the towns around there. Fagan Branch is one. I've got a friend that fishes them alot. PM me and I'll put you in touch with him. He's alot more familiar with that area than me.
Re: Best small boat waters or ramps
Hey guys, Thank you for all the input.
I've saved the info so far for reference.
Sounds like I have way more fishing to do than I have time:D.
Thanks again.
Have a great weekend, Tommy.
Re: Best small boat waters or ramps
Just got a package from KDFWR. Had called and asked them if they could send me a copy of the KY fish booklet, which they did and much more. I think the nice man I spoke to grabbed most everything out on the table about fishing and put it in a manila envelope. One item included that might interest you sir, was 'Kentucky's Boating and Fishing Spring 2009 access sites.' I'm sure if you call up KDFWR they'll send you a copy. By the way it was free!
Re: Best small boat waters or ramps
Thanks colonel. I'll do it. Maybe if I call instead of emailing, I can get some headway into getting a new map of Peabody waters. My old map has seen its better days, and I've been told you cant get that one anymore.
