Licking River access
I have heard the Licking river has some nice smallmouth fishing, and I was hoping someone might be able to recommend a spot to get on the river. I fish out of a kayak, so I don't need much of a ramp. I did fish out of the Blue Lick ramp last summer, but the area near the campground seemed to be fished pretty hard. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Duncan

Re: Licking River access
Great smallmouth fishing, especially below the riffles. If you have hellgramites they can't resist them. There is a place on the way to Kincaid Lake State Park where I used to wade you could put your Kayak in. Let me put some directions together and I'll shoot em' to you via pm.

Re: Licking River access
I beilieve there is a ramp in cynthiana, down by harrison co. I fished kincaid lake the day after thanksgiving, did not bring my boat. I always go the back way and look down at the river. I decided to climb over the bank on my way home. I fished it for about a half an hour, it was cold. I will be back in the spring, seemed to have lots of gravel and rock going to give it a try looks like a great place to wade.

Thanks for the info bob46, I didn't see a ramp icon on my gazetteer map, but I'm sure if I ask in town I'll find it. I did see a ramp in Berry, on the So Fork of Licking river, while looking at the Cynthiana map, so thanks again. Dunc

Re: Licking River access
After everything the folks on this board have shared with me, its the least I can do. I think the back way Bob is talking about is what I sent to you. Are you referring to KY Hwy 609 off 27 Bob? If so it was a good place to wade when I was younger, spent a lot of time wet wading that stretch of river. Absolutely loaded with smallies, channels, and huge drum.

There is a ramp between paris and cynthiana off hgwy 27 at lair. I also believe there is a ramp near the old airport in cynthiana.
