Re: favorite lures at patoka
We fish Patoka a LOT on the USA Bassin' trail, and since no one has mentioned their faves for bass, I'll tell you mine:
6" Zoom trick worms in Mardi Gras or Watermelon Candy, Texas Rigged, when you're on 'em.
Rapala Fat DT3 sure set crankbait, in "pearl gray shiner" just tears them up in the shallows.
Just about any of the Strike King Red Eye Shads, in any color (especially bleeding gizzard shad), in 1/2 oz.
Any you can never go wrong flipping Texas rigged Reaction Innovation's "Sweet Beavers", in normal size, around brush and weeds, 4.20 is the size...I think...
Good luck! I hope you guys have a good time in April.
Re: favorite lures at patoka
As far as "where to go", it's ALL good...It's a huge lake, so it depends on where you put in at. We've launched out of Painter's Creek and Jackson S.R.A. Ramp, both off of HWY 145 and centrally located for the river side, east of the causeway/ bridge, and the main lake to the west...
Re: favorite lures at patoka
Where to fish and what to fish just depends on what you like to fish, theirs lots of grass, lots of wood, rock, lots of bottom structure, all kinds of stuff really. theyll probably be spawning or right around their spawning area so getcha a map and find some spawning flats, secondary points and other staging areas and the migration routes theyll take to get up there. good luck.
