I saw the results of the Fishers of Men tournament at Dale Hollow and big fish was a largemouth that went over 7lbs! Anybody there this past weekend? Did they say where/how was it caught? I thought DH was a smallmouth lake.

I stated in a post many moons ago that DH was one of the biggest overlooked lakes for large mouth around. Everyone tends to fish for smallies and there's no pressure on the green carp. I've had some of the best day's for largemouth on that lake...Holly creek to be exact... Chuck
Repost police says this is old news...

I was there and this thing was SICK!!! It was an AWSOME looking fish, to say the least, and although I was not able to directly ask the man most of what I heard was about ONLY JIGS. Over half the field, including us, blanked out there and it was not for lack of trying different things cause I threw EVERYTHING I had AND he had...lol I have never been to Dale before this event and quite frankly we did not even graph fish. I had fun, as I ALWAYS do on the water, but I would really have liked to at least SEE something on the finder :P I have to fish this again 3 more times this year, so I guess that's another $350 or so I will be tossing away since I don't know anyone to help me with it :(
Anyway, the guys who caught fish did a good job there and I say congrats!! I don't hate, but rather appreciate.

Got to have confidence on the holler. It will be great and at the same time it will break your heart.Caught a few good largemouth up toward river. Some big kys too.Sometimes you got to buckle down on an area.mtc.....
Most guys that get spanked on Dale or Cumberland are Lowland reservoir fisherman. Fishing deep gin clear water is much different than fishing shallow stained lakes with lots of cover. Both have their own set of challenges but overcoming the clear water seems to put alot of fisherman in a tailspin. Largeheads are flourishing in Dale and there are some piggies in there to, always has been. Smallmouth get all the press and the pressure like Chuck said.
only time ive been there i couldnt keep the ky and largemouth off my line long enough to find a group of smallmouth. that was in summer tho and id really like to try dale out again in some colder water. but yeah its just a great lake for tons of different species.
A couple of years ago, Scott Patton and his teenage son Shane destroyed the field in a two day tournament at Dale. They had five fish limit aof largemouth that weighed 22.23 pounds on the first day and 16.24 of largemouth on day two. They also had big fish both days 5.07 on day one and 5.18 on day two. Every fish they caught was a largemouth.
The biggest largemouth I have ever seen in the wild was at Dale. Fisheater & I was down there a couple years ago, in Holly Creek, when his line took off & went under and around a bush (atleast 15 times). The fish came up on the other sade about 10 feet away from us & if it wasn't at least 10#, I'll quit fishing all together. He fought it for what seemed like 30 min. but was only about 2 min. & his line broke. We were both sick & still talk about "the one that got away". We WILL be trying to get that one again, I am sure of it. I just hope it is still hanging around the same bush, but I doubt it. I remember it like it was this morning when it happened.
