getting water temp
my depth finder doesnt have the water temp reader on it. just wondering what i could use to get the water temp. also want to know if surface temps this time of year are as important as temps below the surface because i think the depth finders just read temps close to the surface. having a hard time typing what i want to know but im sure someone out there knows what im asking.

Re: getting water temp
They sell a thermomater that is attached to a line and is weighted that you can drop down to a certain depth. I believe you can find one a BPS. It has been awhile since I seen one though.

Re: getting water temp
how about a pool thermometer. When wally mart or lowes puts out their pool stuff I am gonna pick one up for my rig. The ones I ma thinking of are white too so they may even give you the sechi disc benefit as well when they are lowered into the water.

Before I had a temp gauge on my electronics this is what I did for years. I still use it once and awhile for lower depth checks.
