geist 3/23, monroe 3/24 report
Hey just wanted to congratulate all who fish the cabin fever tourney sat, i did not but heard, wow!
I fished geist on 3/23, water temp 49-53, cloudy, 15mph ssw wind. 2 keeper bass caught in 10-12 ft deep, 3 yellow bass??(don't ask). I didn't do as well as the guys did fishing the tourney, but it was fun.
I fished monroe today, should have stayed home with the 35mph sse wind. 51-56 water temp, stained, cloudy/sunny. My face is smoked wind burned. Put in at payne town, fished moore, ramp and a little on the slow side....nothing. Committed to the jerk bait and trap..nothing. I fished places i thought for sure should have been holding fish, not for me. Any advice on monroe would be great. Anyway that's all i got....later

Slowride....I fished Monroe last Sunday. We fished Hardin Ridge, Moores Creek, and the bay at Paynetown. Fished the points and roadbeds...caught one 4'13 on a crankbait. Give it a couple of weeks and they'll be moving towards the shallows. What was the temp. on the slowside??
Re: geist 3/23, monroe 3/24 report
You know to be honest when i started heading up the slow side, the wind picked up and i fished for about 30 sec and headed back closer to the ramp. Next time im going to fish the slow side only?

My personal best, and the largemouth on my wall at home, was caught on an unseasonably warm March, just right, around the bend, of the Cutright Ramp.
Near the Pine Grove ramp, on the "slow" side is also good for Crappie and Largemouth bass. I haven't been out to Monroe yet this year, but soon, very soon.
White/chartreuse spinner baits and medium 2-3" black/silver crankbaits usually work for me.

Ahhh...the slowside at Monroe. Gotta love the creeks come early summer! Did you guys fish when it was flooded last year??? They were pretty spread out, but when you found em' it was fun! My dad and I fished Lake Lemon today and had a pretty solid day. Found water temps. around 56-58 in shallow water in the afternoon. Found a drain in the east end and caught 8 keepers. Biggest was 5-1....best five around 16 3/4.

Yeah, we fished Monroe when it was flooded out. At one USA Bassin' tournament, 1 fish won the whole thing out of a large field of teams. The guy walked away with a lot of money and the rest of us scratching our heads... :D
I haven't seen it at those levels, since shortly after I moved up here back in '97.
It was insane cruising around the slow side, knowing we were 12-13' ABOVE normal pool levels.
Re: geist 3/23, monroe 3/24 report
Was that when the water was coming down? The slowside got really muddy then...from what I heard the fastside was better during that period.
