HUGE HUGE mistake! This sets the program back even more unless we get a home run hire. Kentucky is not a resume builder for a coach so Mitch better knok this one out of the park. I'll take Calipari, Donovan or Izzo in that order. Anything else and we fall back to the irrelevant category that we've been in for at least 6 years. It shouldn't have to be this way!!!
Uk hired a coach who's biggest claim was taking Providence to a final four and how did that work out. Travis Ford should be the next coach!
Barnhart should be next, but it looks like Dr. Todd and he have a Bromance going on.
Tubby took a couple years away from Billy. Kept smith to long, and now we want to be back on top just like that. The coaches have to have time for the recruits to come in. But Billy killed himself more with his media performances IMHO.
I think it was more about attitude, relationship with the media, acting as an ambassador for the university, and treatment of the players. You could tell in the press conference that "the student athlete's experience" was a focus point. That tells me that he was treating players like crap, and sadly, I can kind of see it now...I heard that the final straw was a berating of Jodie Meeks at the half at Notre Dame...calling him the most selfish player he'd ever seen and telling him not to come out or play in the second half. True or not? I dunno.
I'm not a Billy Gillispie flag waver and I think he had issues, though I didn't hate the guy...not sure about this whole mess...and I'm not sure he did fit in as the coach at UK. It might set us back, it might be the right step...who knows?
One thing I know for sure: Alan Cutler is a DOUCHEBAG.
All my ex's live in Texas.....holler. :D
Looks like Gillispie took the high road, more than you can for UK or Alan Cutler.

Is the Notre Dame game also the one where he told Meeks not to shoot the ball anymore? I ask because in some game Meeks told a opposing player "coach told me not to shoot anymore" and ther player told the press he didn't know if Meeks was serious or not but thought he was.
