Cave Run - Ramey Creek Impoundment ?
Has anyone fished the Ramey Creek impoundment at Cave Run?
I want to take the kids out bank fishing this weekend. I live in Lexington, but enjoy fishing at Cave Run. I've heard that the Ramey Creek area offers superb access from the bank...but how's the fishing?
If you have other fishing location recommendations (not Jacobson Park) in Central KY., that have good bank access...I'm interested.

Its OK. I fished it once you could catch a few from the bank but its not great at least not when I was there. I wouldnt drive there from Lexington to fish it. Go to the Central KY WMA and theres a 10 acre pond next to the skeet range. Its full of bluegill and small bass. I dont know how many big fish it has but with live bait you should catch plenty for the kids. You can walk around most of it easy. I would suggest you fish halfway up the lake towards the dam.

I have to agree that the fishing there is fairly slow.
Maybe if your using wax worms and red worms you can catch some bluegill there.
I agree that the Central Ky WMA is fairly good fishing plus you can walk all around it much more easily.
They stocked the 2 lakes at the Salato Center in Frankfort on the 14th. If you haven't taken the kids there that is a great place for kids to fish and to walk around and look at wildlife (bear, bobcat, elk, fish in tanks, etc)
