? Wood Creek Lake ?
Vacation coming up next week and my father and i are going to drive down and check out Wood Creek Lake. Just wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions. We are looking to do some cnr bassin for fun and maybe try to bring home a few decent gills or crappie for the table. Also I believe I saw on one of the websites that there are walleye there and we wouldn't mind gettin into a few of them as well. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. If you can offer some guidance and don't want to post it for everyone to read, I can be reached via e-mail at

Re: ? Wood Creek Lake ?
I have only fished there for trout and panfish.
The trout will be deeper by the dam this time of year.
They can be caught on the typical trout outfits there but I am becoming a huge fan of the drop shot rig (since this also catches walleye and bass)
The panfish are just like any other Kentucky waterbody panfish in my experience. They are found shallow and around structure such as trees, logs, etc.
I have only used redworms when fishing for them at WoodsCreek and have done well.
Sorry but I have never caught a walleye or crappie at this lake. But I have never really tried.
Good luck and give us all a report.

Re: ? Wood Creek Lake ?
Thanks for the replies. I had heard they usually spawn out earlier down there and was hopin either they had done so or that the weather had pushed them back. Usually try to hit before or a couple weeks after the majority have spawned. Just never really got into bed fishin for bass. Bluegill on the other hand are fair game.

Those big bull bluegill should be moving in with the full moon coming up in a week or two. Should make for some fine eating out of woodscreek.
