L. Cumberland water level
Just for the info. for those planning a trip to the lake the water has came up 8ft. in just a few day's. Laurel is close to the spillway, which effects Cumberland also.
The Dam is running at 31,580cfs. the river is running hard.
Watch for debris, more so on the east end.
Re: L. Cumberland water level
I've never seen the river at 31,580...Helm's Landing was under water at 21,000 I would imagine the river is in the trees! Thanks for the warning.
Re: L. Cumberland water level
Update: The water is over the spillway at Laurel, I have a report of the Burnside area on LC is locked in with debris etc. and running mud!
Re: L. Cumberland water level
I decided that last night looked like the best night this week not to get wet and went to put in mid-lake. The first clue I should have gotten that I should turn around and go home was when we had push the logjam away from the ramp to launch. Undetered we pushed on across the thick debris field to the other side of the lake only to find every pocket and cove choked with debris! I have never been on Cland and been pulled downriver by a 2-3 mph current from mid-lake. It was crazy. We still found small areas where you could get a cast in every once in a while and worked subsurface pretty hard until about 330. There were no shad up and no topwater action. Maybe it will be cleared out by next week. I guess I've been spoiled the last few years, since the drawdown, by the lack of debris.
Re: L. Cumberland water level
big c is a muddy debris laden momma right now. kinda reminds me of the springs we had before the water level control issues. if you are out be careful - major debris floating everywhere!
Re: L. Cumberland water level
Hows the dam area of the lake? Muddy or much debris?
I was thinking of driving up in the morning, but don't want to waste a trip.
Re: L. Cumberland water level
Report much appreciated. I've been there a few years ago and and it is frustrating.
Thanks
Re: L. Cumberland water level
Update: As of 6am. the lake was at 690.04 the dam is running at 33,400cfs and it is still raining here at Grider Hill dock.

As of last night, water is mostly clear. There was some debris on the main lake, a bunch more in the creeks. Some VERY large debris in the creeks.

Re: L. Cumberland water level
i can promise you all that as the lake continues to rise, some MONSTER debris will be out there. it is going take a while to get the lake back in shape.
Re: L. Cumberland water level
That's for sure. Lake rising and river running hard. See link below for graph of level and flow.
