Believe it or not I never have thrown this rig before, I picked up some rigs at bass pro. Any pointers, I know it is used for deep water when the fish aren't biting.

go to page 3 there is a post c-rig plactics in there there is a link to anthor post i belive it was from 2008 there dave stewart has one heck of a post and good details on fishing c-rig
Don't limit yourself to deep water with this rig. You can fish it shallow to deep and fast to slow. It's pretty versatile.

throw it on a long rod 7' or 7+, keep the rod down and set the hook with a sweeping motion...KP
At least a 7 foot rod. Agree with the other posts. No limits for this rig.
You can't fish a rig slow enough. Many people fish them too fast to be as effective as it could be. If the bottom feels good and rocky, I will often pause it for up to a minute, take up a couple of feet and do the same again.
