Personally, I don't think sunflower seed is a very good idea considering that they usually contain high amounts of salt which causes high blood pressure and fluid retention. You don't have to be told that if you stuff your mouth it's going to show around your waist. Some people use toothpicks as a "crutch" until they break the habit of reaching for a cigarette. Two packs a day is a lot of nicotine to rot the lungs and I applaud you for making the wise decision to stop.
Two weeks ago my childhood friend AND his nephew died the same day, at approximately the same time; both of lung cancer from smoking. How strange and weird is that? Both funerals were held at the same time, same place, with burial in the same cemetery. As cruel as it sounds, the reality of the matter is that they both literally smoked themselves to death. They left a total of 8 children without a dad.
Many people have a habit of reaching for a cigarette after eating. I have heard that brushing ones teeth helps to control the craving and I know it will make those "pearly whites" sparkle. Other than that, I haven't a clue because each person has to find a way to win their battles. I wish you continued success as you defeat this enemy.

Re: i finally kicked it
I have been quit now for 5 weeks. I am feeling much better but there is still a craving there but there always will be as with anything you are adicited to you are always an addict. Congrats Ironhead, keep it up, but watch the eating, putting on weight is not good either. If you see you could break, talk to your Dr and get the Chantax, it is really working for me, I did not want to use meds to stop, but I had a real hard time cold turkey, smoked 2 + - Packs a day of full flavor cig's for almost 30 years. Dt's sucked. But keep it up and never give up.;)
