Patoka

I am taking my wife on her first fishing trip. HAve not been on Patoak since mid April, just looking for any info as to what part of the lake has been producing numbers not neccasarilly size. I usually fish the lake alot but have spent more time on Monroe this year. Any ideas would be helpfull. Especially any info regarding bluegill beds.

Think you are a little late for the bedding gills and since you said you fish there a lot you know the size of the gills is nothing to brag about. You should be able to catch all you want just working the edges of the weedbeds with crickets, beemoths, worms under a bobber or titelined. Small beetlespins have also produced well.

I was going off the report on Patokas sight from a guide saying that they were catching gills on the beds last week. From what I have been seeing and hearing the big gills are actually starting to make a comeback. I work at Bass Pro in Clarksville and heard from a Patoka striper guide that last year the big stripers had a big die off in the lake so the gills are making somewhat of comeback, you are however correct in the normal size of the gills.

Raporter thanks for the help. That just goes to show what some guides will say to try and get some clients. I came up with a better plan for her that I know will produce some fish and maybe even a few big ones. Baby 1 minus around the edges of the grass. Thanks for the truth about the gills.
