Yet another REASON to HATE UNIONS......This is a TEACHERS UNION.....
Teachers, who await hearings for offenses from insubbordination to sexual misconduct, are PAID.......sometimes up to 3-4 years.......To do NOTHING.

GREAT, FANTASTIC use of tax payer money.
* GET rid of the Teachers Unions.......COUNTRY WIDE.
* FORCE teachers to TEACH. Pay the successful ones.
* REQUIRE teachers to be tested.........FIRE the ones who are not worth a CRAP.
* Weeding out the BAD teachers will create demand........driving up salaries. WHAT a GREAT IDEA.
Make me the education CZAR......I will clean it up or be DEAD in 30 days :) :)

Re: Yet another REASON to HATE UNIONS......This is a TEACHERS UNION.....
Let's just say I have a TON of issues with the state of education and with most teachers these days. I'll preface it by saying that I know there are SOME great teachers and also that I have family members who teach and my degree is in education and I've taught and coached at the high school level in the past.
That being said, it is a downright shame what goes on in schools these days and what passes for "education". I get so irritated with it all the time. I think one of the biggest signs that show the priorities of schools is this past year when so many schools missed a lot of days due to the ice storm and bad weather. How many of them petitioned the state to not have to make up those days? And what is the reason for not wanting to make them up? It appears to be so the teachers' vacation plans don't get spoiled.
I mentioned something to one of my family members about all the days they were missing at her school and she got very defensive and said that they make all of them up. Lo and behold, they were out of school on May 29. I inquired about how that was possible and was told that they made up the days by cancelling some of the early release day (those early release days are another story, by the way). In any case, the math didn't add up at all.
Re: Yet another REASON to HATE UNIONS......This is a TEACHERS UNION.....
Just another way our government AND some unions are becoming more and more useless in my own opnion. I remember having to make up all kinds of school days "back in the day"...not sure what has changed now days for them to not have to be made up, but it's not right.

We made all of ours up.. In fact, we lost our Memorial Day and had to attend.. We also didn't get out till the second week of June..
Re: Yet another REASON to HATE UNIONS......This is a TEACHERS UNION.....
Sorry, I don't see the problem with the union...what I see is a problem with the system. The problem is the 23 arbitrators that only work 5 days a month..I need that kind of job.

My stepson just graduated from high school in Hardin County and he can't even spell Ketchup with the bottle sitting in front of him!
