Rough River Hybrids
I am at Rough River for a couple of days fishing for hybrids with the family. Caught 2 last night trolling. Two or three pounds each. Water temp 85-86. Nothing this morning. Water temp 81-82. Will probably fish again late this afternoon. Several are in the jumps but they are much smaller. Jumps close to rock ledges or sand flats.

Sounds like you are doing the right stuff.. i noticed this weekend that the 4-5" Gizzard Shad are up on top. How fast are you trolling and what are you using? I'd suggest using a cast net and grabbing some of those Gizzard shad put them on a 1/2-3/4 oz jig and get them down to 8-12 feet. If you can keep the shad alive that is best if not just take an old cooler with you and put them on ice.
I always have better luck in the evenings.

Re: Rough River Hybrids
Not sure about speed. Tried crankbaits at first shallower. No hits. Switched to jigs and went deeper and caught two. Had them on two rods at once. About 7PM or so. Looks like we have steady rain moving in on the radar. Don't know if we will get to fish anymore before we have to leave.

Re: Rough River Hybrids
The two hybrids we caught yesterday evening were 2 1/2 lbs, 17.5 inches and 3 lbs 5 oz, 19 inches. Does Rough produce any big hybrids (7 lbs +) this time of the year? The ones that we saw in the jumps were even smaller, up to maybe 12 to 13 inches.
