Steering console for my 16 foot jon? Is it possible?

Would it be possible for me to add a steering console to my 16 foot jon boat. Also where could i buy one at?

Yes it is possible with enough money. Console and steering cables along with the steering rack and pinion. You may deem it too expensive. The first place that I would look is The Boat Doctor at Herrington lake. He has a row of boats down there that may have what you need. Salvage. There is also a boat repair across the street from Sunset Marina on Herrington lake. Both places are within 1-1/2 miles of eachother. Herrington lake highway 152. Good luck with your modification.

I've seen it done. Have even seen tillers converted to console steers as well. If there's a will there's a way! Good luck!

Your best bet may be to convert it to Stick Steering. Until recently I fished out of a 16 foor john with a 30 4stroke Evinrude with stick steering. Fished great. Drove the boat and fished from the same seat.

A local marina here in evansville sell a console kit can't remember the price but in between 300 and 500 without steering cables.

Yea it doable we had one in ours 15+ years age. Made it from sheet metal some bending and rivets. Was big enough to put your legs under. Rack and pinion steering. Think the cables were the most expensive part, check some of the salvage marinas or craigslist/ebay for the steering stuff. Just takes a little fabrication and inginuity.
