What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
Well I have talked with a lot of Guys and Gals and for the most part the Bite has been off. I Know for me I love to throw a DD22 and can get some Big fish with it this year I have had 1 fish over 4lbs and thats not the norm for this bait. Last year at this time I had 4 over 6lbs and a bunch of 4s and 5s. What is your opinion.
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
i havent had the best of luck this year and i think it's because this year i have spent the least amount of time on the water than i have in many years. my best day so far this year was only 10 bass with only two of those being keepers.
cant give an actual comparision cause the amount of time i put in so far has been alot lower than the past but i have heard others talk about how tough its been this year.
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
It,s been a bad year for me also. Fewer smaller fish. I think that it is this crazy weather we have been haveing.
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
Newton,
As far as I have heard weights at tournaments are down from last year. Even on the days when I don't fish tournaments and you can find me on the lake fishing for fun, I don't seem to do as well as I have done in past years.
Check out our KY-11 Division and look at the records section. The drop in weight was drastic. It was pretty good back in 2006, dropped a little in 2007 and 2008, but it fell off the wagon in 2009!
A lot of it has to do with the flooding earlier this year. Also, the weather has not made up it's mind this year as far as what it wants to do. We had a hot spring, and so far we have had a mild summer. The fish just don't know what to do..........and neither do I!:confused::confused:
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
I guess that depends on where you are fishing. The Largemouth bite here on Kentucky Lake has been very good over all this year....and tournament weights prove it....there are always some tough days here and there but overall so far it has been better than last year which was a good year too.
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
Dave is right Ky has had a good year and other lakes have had moments. Also some lakes have been very good for species other than bass. All that being said the lakes I usually fish have been off a bit. Cumberland has been up and down more downs for me than up mainly because of crazy weather and timing due to the weather. Lake has Yo Yo'd up and down so much it doesn't know what to do. Did have a few stellar days though, with one big sack of heavy smallmouth. Spring Striper night bite was horrible this year, and most guys will agree with that. Overall I think as a whole fishing is down this year for most folks.
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
Overall it looks like the bite has been way down on Rough and Nolin this year. Barren appears to be about the same with some 20lb bags weighed in, none by me of course. Not sure what the problem is, Rough has been off for about 2 years now
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
I mostly fish Green River Lake and it has been on fire this year....not just for me but for most people....the weights its been taking to win our local tournaments has literally almost doubled from last year....the fish haven't seemed to be in the same spots as they have been the past few years but the guys who have found them have been catching them consistantly...
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
Lake "E" has been producing well all year.. We have had several days where top 5 fish is pushing 20 lbs.

I guess I should have hit the lake more often!! :) We most def had some good Spring trips but I have not made it out there since.
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
I think it's been a great year, My numbers and quality of bass were up this year on the certain lakes I fish, especially Cave Run. and one in particular I have to admit it was down, Dewey lake, where rain events keept the lake muddy and prevented grass growth which is where I do best. But even out of state in TN I fish alot and have an excellent year. I think overall this year can be ranked average for me.
Re: What is your opinion on this Year Bite.
The few times I've been out, the catfish seemed to be biting better than normal.
The creek smallies seemed to be cooperating fairly well also.
I'm just waiting for late November when the real fishing starts!
