Re: Livewell Pump Question
Sounds to me like the impeller is dragging on something in the lower part that it screws into.
Re: Livewell Pump Question
Check that mine did this it had a hair line crank in the cartage had to replace it.
Re: Livewell Pump Question
I will check it out. I bought the housing and the pump new so it shouldnt have a crack in it. If it does I will seal it up. I will also check to see if it is too deep in the housing and possibly not letting the motor spin. If that were the case though it would not work when I remove it and place it back in there right??

Re: Livewell Pump Question
Your supply hose might need to be rerouted around the other hoses. On my friends boat, anytime you first start the livewell pump for the day we have to push the supple hose from pump to livewell down. It gets an air lock in it. Once we do that, it works fine all day.
Re: Livewell Pump Question
Some water pumps are not self priming, meaning if there is no water inthe pump it will just spin the propeller inside and not draw a suction. Try and dip the pump in water and see if it will move fluid through all the lines. Also if there is a small imperfection in the propeller inside the pump it may just be DOA out of the box.
Re: Livewell Pump Question
Thanks guys I will work on her tomorrow and see if I can fix it. If not I will just prime it every time I go out. I spent 80 bucks on that pump so I am not looking forward to getting another one.
Re: Livewell Pump Question
Make sure the pump is running the right way and not backwards. There is a + and - wire.
Brown should be + and Black -. Just a thought..
