KECC Open Charity Tourney at Taylorsville October 3
Fellas, this is a tournament hosted by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Division of Environmental Services, which is my employer. KECC stands for Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign, which an annual fundraising effort that generated over a million dollars in 2008 for over 1,000 charitable programs across the Commonwealth. Employees contribute thru salary deduction, one-time donations, and participating in fundraisers.
This my first year to be involved with KECC (you can visit the website www.KECC.org for more info) and have learned of the good work that the money is going towards. I've also learned that requests for help have really spiked this year as many people have lost their jobs.
My bass fishing coworkers and I decided to host a bass tournament as our fundraising event. One of the first organizations to step forward to offer help was FLW Outdoors (specifically Bill Taylor), who is providing us with a FLW weigh trailer and has donated two FLW Co-angler entry certificates as door prizes! My hat is off to FLW and to Mr. Taylor! We are also getting good support from other organizations, businesses and individuals who alos deserve a big thanks.
We are still looking for donations of tackle, promotional items, food, gift cards, and money to help make this event a great success, and hopefully the first of many KECC open tourneys.
Please consider donating any items that you might have to spare that we could use as prizes for our cornhole and casting contests which will take place after the tournament.

Come join us! We are beginning to get pre-registration entries through the mail. Remember that blast off-order is based on time of registration so sending your entry in by mail will give you an earlier blast-off than registering the morning of the tourney at the State Park.
Hope to see you there!
John

They are still waiting for someone to weight in a legal bass!!!
Re: KECC Open Charity Tourney at Taylorsville October 3
We had 40 boats in the tourney. 17 boats weighed in fish, including one smallmouth. We paid cash to the first 4 places and merchandise/gift cards to places 5 thru 10.
One entry (Bingham and Webb) weighed in a limit (3 fish) with a total weight of 6 lb 8 oz. and took first place.
8 entries weighed in two fish. 2nd place and Big Fish money went to Perkins and Thompson with a total weight of 6 lb 3 oz with a big fish of 4 lb 2 oz.
3rd place: Vaughn/Trimble - 4 lb 12 oz
4th place: Toon/Robertson - 4 lb 7 oz
5th place: Gottler/Dye - 4 lb 6 oz
6th place: Withrow/Deakins - 4 lb 4 oz
7th place: Miller/Purdy - 4 lb 1 oz
8th place: Nichols/Warmoth - 3 lb 13 oz
9th place: Bartley/Bartley - 3 lb 11 oz
10th place: Ellis/Jones - 3 lb 5 oz
We gave a way alot of door prizes, had a good meal, and most importantly raised over $1700 for the charity.
Thanks to everyone who came out!
John
