Re: guist creek lake
I'd have to see the DNR study to know if that's a good idea.
It may be,.....,but not always is that the answer.
Some lakes are "over-run" with smaller fish that keeps them from growing,
they all suffer, and taking some smaller ones helps the others to grow.
Patoka had a slot limit years ago for that very reason.
Are there an abundance of small bass in Guist Creek?
If 15" min. is the answer, then why hasn't it happened already?
It has at a lot of other lakes.
I'd like to know the DNR's study and recomendation of that lake before I decide.

Re: guist creek lake
A big fat YES to creel and size limitations. That little lake is only 300 plus acres and gets hammered by Tourneys and Rec fisherman, it could use the shot in the arm.
Let the slamming begin, lol.

Re: guist creek lake
show me the study that was done to bring about this petition and i would consider signing if the study showed this needed to be done. on the other hand, i would be first in line to sign one that would put a stop to the skiing on that little lake.

Re: guist creek lake
Alright guys, what's the down side to doing this, and please don't say it's gonna make it harder for you to get the winning sack.
Really what would be the down side?????

Re: guist creek lake
I don't think a 15 in limit is going to change anything. People are going to fish that lake regardless. Will it cut down on the tournaments, probably not. It may increase them in time. Will it cut down on the bucket brigade? I don't think so. I've seen a lot of dinks go in buckets, baskets, stringers you name it. Not a whole lot of measuring going on in that department. I don't care either way if it's 12" or 15" or even 20". The lake will get fished the same in my personal opinion. ;)

On some lakes the down side is the fish won't grow.
(According to the DNR)
PS All the tourney fishermen I've seen release their fish after weigh in.
The tournements aren't the problem.
