Last fall I was concerned about launching my bass boat at the ramp by the dam due to all the large boulders right under the surface. Lower units are costly. Is it safe to launch there now?
I do not post very often but I sure enjoy reading all the postings from the regulars. You all seem like a great group of guys.
Thanks for any information on the ramp, it's a long drive down to the ramp at the State Park.

;) No problem launching at Halcombs. Just be mindful of where the ramp ends, so as not to drop off the end. Ramp is marked with a yellow strip and a sign which tells you how many feet of ramp you have. There are some large bolders off the end of the ramp, but they should not be a problem unless the water level is really low.
Just to be on the safe side, I always raise my motor once I tie up to the ramp, just in case the wind blows the stern of the boat near the shoreline rocks, while I take that GREAT HIKE up to hill to get the trailer.:eek:

GREAT HIKE is right, needs to be a tram or trolly that will hoist us to the top for that is a HAUL to the truck.

What Boone said. That boulder only comes into play when the water gets at or below the 679 mark. If it gets to 678 just watch it you'll see it and steer clear of it, I know the big Rock you are talking about I've seen it before and it's a Dude.
