How big is Lake Ellerslie
Have heard about this lake or series of lakes in LExington called Lake Ellerslie. The private fishing club is 115 years old. They only accept 300 members annually and have a turnover of about only 5-10 members annually. They currently have a 6 year waiting list to get in. HOW BIG IS THIS PLACE..or places?
Re: How big is Lake Ellerslie
It appears all your information is correct.
It's about 3 times the size of Jacobsen Park. I'm not real sure about the acerage but I'd say probably 150-250 acres.
It is one of the chain lakes in Lexington. I think there are about 13 all together.
Re: How big is Lake Ellerslie
Are they all private or just Lake Ellerslie?
Re: How big is Lake Ellerslie
Jacobson is the only one I know of that is public.

Ellerslie is owned by Kentucky American Water Co. and therefore private. Jacobson is leased by the water company to the city for $1 a year, I think. There is a connecting culvert under Richmond Rd. to Jacobson Park and fish stocked in Ellerslie migrate back and forth to Jacobson.
Fishing access in Ellerslie is only permitted for fishing club members and their guests. Members pay a $10 fee for each guest, although spouses and young children fish for free. The club uses part of the annual revenues (dues, guest fees) to restock the lake. All bass are catch and release, but other species have daily possession and size limits.
