Elnut needs a lot of prayers
If it is not one thing with my health it is another. I have been fighting a pretty bad staff infection called Pseudomonis for a year now and the 3 different antibiotics they have been giving me to kill it has another side effect in which it causes CDiff, an infection in your colon. So now I am fighting that and only hope this drug Flagil will kill it for the only other drug that kills CDiff, I am allergic to. Plus I am going thru some MAJOR withdrawals for all the narcotic pain medications that I have been on since June 30th. With my body getting immune to the medications they give me a much higher dose than normal. For instance, Daulidid is given 1mg per 4 hours to the normal human being that goes into the hospital. They give me 4mg every 2 hours, 48mg a day versus 6mg a day normal dose. This not only effects me in the hospital but when released cold turkey your body goes thru withdrawals. Believe me they are no fun, hot, cold, freezing, sweating, diarrhea, vomiting, very bad thoughts, suicidal thoughts, anxiety over and over. I am in day 4 of these withdrawals and according to the doctors am at the peak and hopefully they will be over in a couple of days. If anyone has went thru this and I know there are a few pharmacist that are on here can offer some advice I would appreciate it very much. Thanks elnut
Re: Elnut needs a lot of prayers
Doggone it, Elwood, when are you going to catch a break? :(
I'm a quitired Pharmacist and I am somewhat surprised that they have you going cold turkey after such a relatively high dose. That being said, just hang in there buddy. Follow your doctor's orders and keep in touch with the HIGHER POWER.
Please allow me to repost my prayer for you from an earlier date.
O God of heavenly powers, by the might of your command you drive away from our bodies all sickness and all infirmity: Be present in your goodness with your servant Elnutsmalljaws, that his weakness may be banished and his strength restored; and that, his health being renewed, he may bless your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I personally have not gone through this, but have had numerous patients that have. Since you were on an extremely high dose of dilaudid, I can only imagine how intense your withdrawls are. Hang in there, they will get better. I am shocked that they allowed you to go "cold turkey" without weaning you off the narcs. That is dangerous. I also deal a lot with cdiff. Flagyl should do the job just fine. I know it is no fun with the runs and abd. pain. It should get better quickly. As for the other three antibiotics causing you to get cdiff, I guess in a way. See...you can only get cdiff from being exposed to cdiff. Being on the three different antibiotics more than likely decreased your body's natural defenses and when you were exposed to the cdiff, it took hold in your body. That is one of the problems with taken numerous antibiotics, it lowers your own body's ability to fight off infection. However, antibiotics save lives and work miracles. I pray that you get over this and get back on the water brother. Hang in there!
Fish on!

Re: Elnut needs a lot of prayers
Wow man I can't imagine the feelings your going through. I took that stuff for a Kidney Stone and it really messed me up. Sorry to hear about that man. Prayers sent.
Re: Elnut needs a lot of prayers
Woody, I know what you are going thru with the withdraws, after my seventh knee surgery it took a very long time to get it back to what I call normal, but I was on pain pills for almost a year, 180 of them a month, and they were the Loratab 10mg, very strong, and I was taking 6 a day, sometimes more depending on the pain, plus I had built up quite a tolerance, I was taking 2 at a time, and I was hooked on them badly. When the Doctors finally took me off of them, I thought I was going to die, I lost 40 lbs due to the sweating, vomiting, couldnt eat. I had the same thoughts as you, suicidal thought, anything to make the withdraws go away, but after about 6 days you start to feel a little better, and after 2 weeks you feel like a new person, the craving for the narcotics was still there, but I finally felt like a normal person, I could eat, and I could stand to be around people. So Woody you are about at the worst part, and in a couple more days, you will start to feel better with each passing day. So hang in there buddy its one of the toughest things I have ever done, and you are on an emotional roller coaster, but resist the urge to go to the Doctor and try to get more, because it will just make it worse later down the road. Remember the worse part is behind you, and it will only get better from here on out.
