predictions on the sauger this year
well its gettin closer and closer to one of my favorite times of the year , fall and winter sauger fishing.
whats everyones predictions on how good or bad it will be this year ?? also with the cool weather were having already would it be possible for them to start hittin earlier this year ??
hope its a little better myself. didnt have as good of luck as usual last year.
Re: predictions on the sauger this year
Hard to say. Last year wasn't the best for me either. I do believe the bite will start earlier than usual because of the cooler temps we have had this summer/fall.
One thing that I do know for sure is that bank fishing at Cannelton dam is now restricted according to a KDFWR officer. It will still be accessible by boat though.

Where do you get em on the KY river, and how far up river do they go. Any chance of catching them at lock and dam 7,8, or 9. Can you catch em in Frankfort.

I'm hoping to get a little more rain. Fishing will be good if the water levels come up. It won't be long.
Re: predictions on the sauger this year
What triggers the sauger to move up river and turn the bite on, water temperature or what????

they start their run when it hits 65 then they really turn on when its 55 and below the temp in the water is at its prime when it hits 48 to 50
Re: predictions on the sauger this year
They started stocking sauger in the Ky several years ago. We've gotten some really nice ones up around the dams. Hybrids should be moving back to the dams soon too!
