Cumberland help (finding smallies)
Hey guys I am heading down to Cumberland Lake to try and catch some small mouth. Not fishing any one part of the lake so if any body knows where maybe I can catch a few fish and what to throw this time of year that would be great. I dont really fish Cumberland that much so any help will be very helpful. Thanks in advance, and I will give a report when I get back at the end of the week. Thanks again
Re: Cumberland help (finding smallies)
This may or may not help, but I was striper fishing on the red clay bank below Waitsboro a couple of days ago. Had zero luck with stripers, but the smallmouth wouldn't leave me alone. Caught probably twenty nice fish. I was bottom fishing with live alwives, but these fish were near any piece of cover in fairly shallow water. 10 - 15 ft. I'm sure all you bass gurus can figure out what artificials will catch them as well. Good luck.
Re: Cumberland help (finding smallies)
I know from more than one person that there was a good topwater bite early and late for bass in general last week. Some quality smallmouth were caught on main lake points on the lower end on Sammies and the like. Tried to fish Saturday morning, but the cold front and rain combined with 20mph winds made it tough. Did find some smallies on shallow mud points close to deep water up in Beaver and Otter.
